This allows kava to contribute to easing anxiety, nervousness, muscle tension, and sleeplessness. L-theanine (N-ethyl-L-glutamine), the source of which is green tea, is another Sleep-Rx nutraceutical agent that offers a plethora of beneficial metabolic pathways related to brain function. The higher dosage of L-theanine in Sleep-Rx, along with the other Sleep-Rx compounds, allows L-theanine to contribute to the overall relaxation effect provided by Sleep-Rx. Paeonia lactiflora extract (Chinese Peony), Ziziphus spinosa extract (sour date fruit), and wild lettuce (wild opium), which have all been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine for their calming effects, are also incorporated within Sleep-Rx. Additionally, Sleep-Rx contains N-acetyl-5- methoxytryptamine (melatonin), which is naturally made in the body from 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin).
